Greek Gyros at the Fayette MallAugust 29, 2011 by: Alex
When we go to the mall, a little trip to the food court does a tired ass shopper well. Not to mention that Tumbleweeds serves beer. Of course when I mention this, I get the “Are you really going to have beer in the afternoon when we’re out shopping” look? Ah well. Greek Gyros it is!
We had the number 1, Gyro with french fries. They cook it while you wait, so I’m thinking this stuff should be good and fresh. Crinkle cut fries just like high school used to have! Yum!
So we order, it takes about 5 minutes and we have our lunch. Now the majority of gyros I’ve eaten in my life were outside the bars of Cleveland, so I don’t have much to compare it to.
The meat was a little dry, the produce was crispy and the whole thing was tasty. The fries were even pretty good. These guys have been around for a few years. Their unique (unique to this area) cuisine is nice to see in an ocean of corporate dining BS. AND, they got a 100 rating from the health department. I appreciate that, having worked in kitchens.
- Lunch: A-
- Staffing: B+ They didn’t go out of their way, but were fast and courteous.
- Overall looks It was the mall, how can I grade that? Their spot reminded me of a NYC deli. N/A
- Value for the money: B+ Knowing that they have to pay for the prime space, their niche in a market and simplicity of a dish – $17 for (2) number 1′s seems a little high, but having something different was worth a little extra.
